This spring, UniSA Division of Business students decided to go on the Cave Explorer Camp! We brought together about 30 staff and students on what was an amazing 3 days of travel and getting to know each other.
We went Aussie-style, bush camping in tents with a campfire at night! The first night was very cold, but warmed up reasonably by our second night. It’s so important to get a good quality sleeping bag and bring warm clothes when camping, be prepared! Even though we pitched our tents in gorgeous bush land under Australian gumtrees, we still had the luxury of hot showers and toilets – so no one had to dig a hole to go toilet… now that’s a bonus!

South Australia is blessed with so many adventure destinations – which is why it’s also the homebase of several school camp providers. With the rich diversity in nature and various adventure options, school camp providers here can offer a range of activities for students to enjoy.
Most school camp providers align their activities with the curriculum of primary and secondary schools across the region. The outdoor education activities they offer build up from classroom learning, and help students develop essential life skills. Going out in nature, learning various skill sets, being part of team building, and gaining leadership skills are main factors that enrich students who participate in school camps.
School camp packages generally take into account the number of students, inclusion of activities, catering, accommodation, and add-on tours. Some school camp providers can also organise whole programs for you, or you can collaborate with them on the most suitable activities. It’s also best to coordinate with the school camp provider on how you can arrange logistics, meal plans, rooms, guidelines, and itinerary for the entire school trip.
Students get the chance to learn more about themselves and have fun while they are on school camps. It’s the perfect opportunity to extend their learning beyond the four walls of the classroom, and explore wonderful destinations around South Australia and interstate. School camps provide a great foundational experience that students can take with them to adulthood.
