Students Explore Australia Pty Ltd is on a mission to connect young people with nature, as a means of improving their wellbeing. We predominantly achieve this through delivering school camps for primary and high schools all across Australia, and also work with student groups with special needs.

Role Description:

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for working with your Program Coordinator (team leader) to successfully deliver our all-abilities camp programs. You’ll have the option to choose which programs you wish to book yourself onto, and we’ll know these dates usually 1 month or more in advance. Our programs are located mainly in nature-based destinations surrounding the major cities of Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Cairns, Alice Springs, Darwin, Hobart and Melbourne.  The role can be summed up into 3 main components.

  • Physically and emotionally supporting 2 or more young people on program, in a variety of nature-based programs
  • Offering reports and updates to guardians about the progress and milestones that the young people you are working with, have achieved
  • Working as part of team and using your specialised skills in the team when needed (see below for specialisations).

Ideal candidates:

  • Have the ability to build rapport quickly with kids
  • Have a passion for the outdoors or positive wellbeing of young people
  • Are physically fit and capable
  • Are fun and knowledgeable entertainers
  • Have core values that are aligned with ours
 

Specialisations: To build high-performing teams, we are looking for facilitators that are specialists in one or more of the following areas, or are willing to develop skills in particular areas:

  • outdoor activities facilitation
  • specialist caring (such as manual handling or personal care)
  • driving minibuses (or having a heavy vehicle license)
  • overnight shift monitors (great for those willing to be night-owls)
  • complex behaviour management
  • people who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, that can facilitate cultural workshops (or willing to learn, as we can teach these skills)

Essential Items
To be successful in the role you must have or be willing to get:

  • Working with Children’s Check OR Teacher registration
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Completion certificate for Students Explore Aus training modules (induction)

When and where is the work:

We have multiple programs every single school holiday period, as well as a programs every now and then during school term. Usually each program is 4 days in length (3 nights). We have programs about to start running in Perth region (WA) and Brisbane region (Qld), as well as Adelaide region (SA). Although – all our programs are usually take place about 1 – 3 hours away from main cities, as they are authentic nature-based programs, and we try and go to the best spots around! Our head office is located in Everard Park, South Australia 5035.

Renumeration: (applies August 2024 onwards)
You will take home between $425 – $500 per day as a contractor with your own ABN (very easy and cheap to set up, and we can guide you in that should you be successful).

We also include all accommodation and chef-made meals during your program. You will also be eligible individual ‘player of the match’ bonuses on each program, and team bonuses for when you are part of a team that gets a ‘match win’ on programs.
