Connecting Youth to Nature, Culture, and Country

Our Mission is to provide youth with opportunities to nurture their connection with cultural identity out on Country, and empower youth to lead their own journeys of discovery.

Welcome to Students Explore Australia, where we focus on creating transformative experiences all over Australia! Our youth programs are co-designed with Aboriginal Community Organisations, Indigenous led, and delivered on Country! We focus on fostering lasting relationships with nature, building a sense of community, and providing culturally safe places for building life skills. We help Community Organisations working with Aboriginal Youth to deliver unforgettable Aboriginal Youth Camps!

Why Choose Our Camps?

Empowering Young People

Empowering Young People to be a part of their own journey of self discovery, to form positive connections with their identity, and culture during our Aboriginal Camps.

Indigenous Led

Positive mentoring by our Indigenous staff members and engagement with Elders, yarning circles, and in activities which provide ongoing connections to culture.

Opportunities for Accessing and Continuing Culture

Actively engaging young people in pride for their culture through activities, learning traditional material gathering, and crafting, so that they can be part of living traditions.

Building Community Connections and Life Skills

We provide opportunities for youth to engage in shared experiences, overcoming challenges, and support each other. We work with young people in building capacity in life skills from communication and social engagement, to critical thinking and problem solving.

What Sets Us Apart?

Fun, Safe, and Easy to Organise – We are experts at ensuring our action-packed First Nations camps are fun and diverse, providing activities which provide unique challenges to overcome, or exciting opportunities to try new things! Our experienced team knows how to make a successful program, manage risks, and how to deliver it smoothly every time. We worry about all the logistics to ensure an easy to organise program!

Our Focus on Indigenous Youth – By placing First Nation voices at the heart of these programs, we ensure that our Indigenous cultural camps are culturally safe places for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. We place youth at the centre of everything we do, ensuring that our programs work towards furthering their own personal journeys.

On Country – Our programs are focused on connecting with Country. We  understand the diversity of Language Groups and cultural connections with place, and strive to ensure each one of our programs is unique to the community we are working with and connected with the regions we are going to.

How Youth Benefit from On Country Camps:

Life long connections – By fostering a sense of community, shared experiences, and mutual support among participants, these programs build relationships that extend far beyond the campfire. The connections forged during on-Country experiences, engagement with Indigenous mentors, and collaborative activities create a network of individuals bound by a common journey of cultural discovery. The emphasis on cultural engagement ensures that these connections are not only personal but also rooted in a shared commitment to preserving and celebrating Indigenous heritage.

Yarning circles – provide youth with chances to build shared knowledge, but also with opportunities to explore shared or personal experiences, challenges, or questions about their cultural heritage. This contributes to fostering a sense of belonging and connection, but also can help youth begin their own journeys of working through personal struggles in a culturally safe space.

Experiences in Nature – From traditional bush skills to modern outdoor activities, during our Indigenous summer camps students develop a connection with nature, enhancing their physical and mental wellbeing.

Personal Development – youth engaged in our programs are able to tackle personal challenges, step outside their comfort zone, build life skills, and strengthen connections with their cultural identity. All of these are integral for our youth to reach their full potential and to be part of taking charge of their own lives in order to follow their own goals and aspirations.

Students Explore Australia’s camps not only create transformative experiences during the program, but also lay the foundation for lifelong connections. As participants continue their individual journeys, the relationships formed during our Aboriginal Culture Camps serve as a lifelong source of support, understanding, and connection to the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Students Explore Australia acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land where we live, learn and work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
