Day Wellbeing Programs
Students Explore Australia offers day-long wellbeing programs for middle and high school students. Our programs are centred around the four components of the Australian Corrrriculum’s Personal and Social Capabilities. These are:
- Self Awareness
- Social Management
- Social Awareness
- Self Management
We teach theory on these components, which includes themes of resilience, anxiety management, coping with stress and the related tools to manage these aspects of wellbeing. Importantly, we link our theory specifically with fun activities that encourage students to connect with nature, and have a direct relationship with the theory we have been focusing on. Our goal is to open students’ eyes to the possibilities of improving themselves and society at large through an awareness of their own connection with nature. Practical outdoor recreation sessions are a large part of our wellbeing programs, as we apply the theory, just as students would in real life! The most important takeaway from our programs is for students to discover tools that are fun and engaging, that allow them deal with self awareness, self management and increase their social awareness and social management skills – all through using nature.
Are Single Day Wellbeing Programs Right for Us?
Single day programs are for you, if your group:
- Has limited budget or limited time
- Needs easy tools, that can make a big difference
- Has teachers that can continue the conversation after our day program
- You prefer not to go on an overnight experience, but want multiple session
Benefits to students from Day Programs:
- Have at least 1 tool to help manage each focus area we choose.
- Discovering that wellbeing is not just boring theory – it can actually be really fun!
- Contribute to emotional maturity and empathy
- Contribute to developing friendships and breaking down social barriers
- Develop overall resilience, and management of anxiety and stress
Day Program Overview
Through our wellbeing programs, students can choose to commit to a day’s worth of activities, with the option to return for more if they wish. Our programs usually start with a lesson in wellbeing theory, followed by a practical session of activities to apply their knowledge from the lessons. Students can also choose a whole-day practical session if they prefer. We never do a whole day of theory though – sorry, it’s just not what we believe in.
